Graphics Direct Review
Sunday, February 12, 2017
Being an illustrator I'm constantly on the hunt for an affordable artist supplies store as I'm always going to need new markers and marker pads. Graphics Direct came up on a Google search a few weeks ago and I couldn't get over how fantastic their extensive product range and their prices were.
I dropped them an email and they have kindly sponsored me by sending me some brand new marker goodies to use on my upcoming projects! They totally spoilt me and I can't thank them enough!
I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened my Graphicsdirect.co.uk package as they had included the Windsor & Newton Student designer marker set which I've had my eye on for ages!!
This set is just incredible not only for its shade range but also the handy carry case included in the set which acts as a pen stand is just...AMAZING! It's currently available on their website for only £37.93 reduced from £49.99!! Which for those of you who know how expensive individual markers are to buy at £2.50 a pop...this works out at £1.58 each. Bargain!
This set has a beautiful selection of brights, neon's and a few pastels which for me was perfect as my marker collection so far surprisingly lacks bright shades.
The back of the case also has a pocket for extra pens or erasers OR a place to store your shade swatch cards, which is what I'm using mine for.
Graphics Direct also included one of their A4 marker pads which makes such a huge difference to my illustrations. The clarity and the fact that it's bleed proof makes my job a lot easier when it comes to heavy shading. Other artist pads tend to flake and peel on me when they get saturated in colour whereas this pad doesn't at all. It's such good quality. The only downside to this type of pad for me is that I can't keep all of my illustrations together once I've finished a page as it's not staple or ring bound which I prefer. But that's personal preference not a negative of graphics direct.
The prices on Graphicsdirect.co.uk really cater to students and freelancers as quality pads and markers rarely come cheap. Their A4 pads are only £2.88 Inc vat which is so so affordable for the excellent quality of the bleed proof paper.
They also specialise in kits for all different further education courses. These range from architect kits, graphic design kits and even Art Foundation course kits which would have come in so handy when I purchased supplies for my course. To have the kit all ready and available to purchase from one store at a super affordable price is such a great reason to purchase from Graphicsdirect.co.uk
